Writing about the Middle East and Islam is a rough business, one where my critics sometimes go over the line into factual misrepresentation. I on occasion – in particular, when factual mistakes are involved – take the time to point this out. Here's a running log, in reverse chronological order, of the apologies, retractions, and corrections as I extract them.
Ebrahim "Eboo" Patel apologized to me at ABC News, January 30, 2009.
"Irfan Yusuf Apologizes to Daniel Pipes." September 17, 2008. Yusuf apologizes for writing in the Canberra Times that I stated that "Muslims thoroughly deserved" to be victims of a new Holocaust in Europe. Oct. 1, 2008 update: The same article also appeared in the New Zealand Herald and Yusuf today apologized a second time, for the calumny in that publication; see "Irfan Yusuf Apologizes Again to Daniel Pipes."
"'Muslim Weekly' Apologizes to Daniel Pipes." March 3, 2008. The London publication retracts its reporting of Tariq Ramadan's accusation against me.
"[The Canadian Islamic Congress:] An Islamist Apology, July 19, 2005. The CIC apologizes for asserting that I want "to ethnically cleanse America of its Muslim presence."
