AjaxReader comment on item: Surfboards to Reduce Arab-Israeli Tensions? Submitted by Douglas Durkin (United States), Jun 13, 2008 at 21:09 Dr. Paskowitz served on the Ajax ship, in the Navy, during WWII. My father was a medical assistant under the good doctor, and always spoke highly of Dr. Paskowitz.. Being part of the "Greatest Generation" and still doing his part for peace. Thanks for your service it is truly appreciated by this baby boomer, I will never forget and I'm teaching my children not to forget. The Ajax was a oil tanker in the Pacific, unescorted, just waiting for the Japenese Navy to blow it apart. But some how the crew made it through the war. Then what does Dr. Paskowitz and my dad decide to do? They volunteer for the Bikini Bomb Test. What stories these guys can tell! It's also worth noting that Alex provides a completely different history of Paskowitz in World War II at his comment titled "More Info on Paskowitz."
