Daniel Pipes is director of the Middle East Forum and columnist for the New York Post and The Jerusalem Post. A former official in the Departments of State and Defense, he has taught at the University of Chicago. Harvard University, and the U.S. Naval War College. He is the author of twelve books on the Middle East and Islam, including Militant Islam Reaches America (2002) and In the Path of God: Islam and Political Power (1984). He also serves on the "Special Task Force on Terrorism and Technology" at the Department of Defense and was nominated by President George W. Bush to serve on the board of the U.S. Institute of Peace.
