I arrived today in New Zealand and noted that the "Passenger Arrival Card" (click here for a full-size scan) that each incoming visitor must fill out asks the usual questions – about one's identity, purpose for travel, money carried – as well as this one (#8):
Are you coming to New Zealand for medical treatment or consultation or to give birth?
Comment: This is the wave of the future, I suspect, a way of preempting the phenomenon of anchor babies that other governments will imitate. (August 22, 2010)
