The New Antisemitism: Christian antisemitism?Reader comment on item: The New Anti-Semitism [Worldwide] Submitted by JJ Joseph (Canada), Jul 17, 2007 at 20:02 This ancient 1996 article really needs a tuneup. The references to Christian antisemitism (Jew-hatred?) are hokey and lower the quality of the surrounding ideas. Christians may often feel irritated by Jews, especially Jews who refuse to talk to, or help, Christians, but that's just low-level irritation. It's not the same as the institutionalized and funded Jew-hatred of the Muslims. Christians, after all, spend a lot of energy defending the rights of Jews, and they also tend to defend Israel. Christians, after all, respect the origins of their faith. If Christian irritation at various Jewish mannerisms has ever been on the same level as the applied hatred of a billion Muslims, please enlighten us (without referring to the Ku Klux Klan or Hitler, if possible). Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: An article from 1996 (actually, 1997 in this case) stands on its own merits. For my more recent writings on the topic, see Antisemitism. Reader comments (8) on this item
