"Let Iraqis Run Iraq"Reader comment on item: Assessing the American-Led Effort in Iraq Submitted by David S. Levine (United States), Dec 17, 2007 at 12:56 This reader does not believe that any project built in Iraq would be better had Arabs built it than had Americans--in fact probably worse. Arab labor is, in a word, terrible. This past Saturday I had a long conversation with an American civil engineer working in Israel. Projects using Arab labor come in at low quality and far behind. Residential buildings built by contractors utilizing Arab labor "to save money" are infected with mold afterwards. "Let Iraqis run Iraq" may mean not getting the blame for failure, but there will be failure, surely!
