We differ on ths pointReader comment on item: Unresolved Problem Submitted by Mark Tyler (United States), Apr 27, 2002 "...we have seen that militant Islam is our strategic, long-term, complicated enemy, and we're going to target it, we're going to defeat it "Mr. Pipes, we Differ on this point. The President altogether denies any concerns about Islamic militants. The logic is: If you commit terrorism, you are simply not a muslim because Islam doesn't support such things. It is this same schizophrenic attitude that allows Arafat to remain off of the terorist list while perfectly fitting Bush's definition: Having voiced a sentiment for peace, all aspects of Arafat's support for terrorism are ignored. Saudi Arabia may aid Palestinian terrorists with a telethon and any evidence to the contrary is ignored, although the other day even Sec. Powell finally admitted that he found it "troubling". I understand the political and economic pressures the President faces and that he must tread carefully, but to the extent that the President parses who is a muslim and who is a terrorist we have so undercut ourselves morally as to make the War on Terrorism a "War on Selected Terrorism".
