Applying Philip Salzman's Theory to GazaReader comment on item: Applying Philip Salzman's Theory Submitted by M.D. Anthony (Canada), Mar 10, 2008 at 01:28 Applying Philip Salzmans Theory to Gaza is credible but too limiting. In 1992 Michael Gorbachev travelled through out the world on behalf of the "Green Cross" his orgainization devoted to bringing to world attention the danger to both the health of mankind and the world environment by decades of pollution created under the dis-interested governments of former Eastern Europe, Russia and China. What was missed or ignored by the world press was Gorbachev pointing out that equally disinterested "Ethnic Tribalism" is what has been growing and even re-placing some of these former governments. A sense of, or an anomaly of temporary dialogue in these regions is only brought about by Dictators these people will never accept a democracy. He then would go on to point out that democracies, goverments, and anyone pursuing even peaceful coexistence with "Ethnic Tribalism" will be unable to do so. He named countries and regions of the world including the mideast where the problems of "Ethnic Tribalism" were the greatest and still growing. It was clear to any thinking audience that the common religion of these tribalistic peoples was Islam. He indicated that because of religious differences there really was no way to negotiate with the forces of "Ethnic Tribalism" and that any solutions outside of negotiatiion are of course unacceptable to a civilised people.
