Israel and the Democratic leftReader comment on item: They had a name for it[: Appeasement] Submitted by Bruce Shalom (United States), May 16, 2008 at 15:35 One can wear blinders and avoid the truth but the American Democratic left has a vision far different for Israel than the Republican right. The left wing led by the likes of Jimmy Carter, Michael Moore, Barak Obama, Nancy Pelosi and a host of others sees Israel as sore on the American public image abroad. The Republicans see Israel in a different light as the front line nation in western civilizations very real confrontation with an ideology that is the antithisis of Democracy, freedom of speech and religion, female and gay rights and most importantly an ideology which refuses to live in peaceful coexistence with others who do not share their views. There are those on the American left who would willingly appease these Islamic ideological fanatics and throw Israel to the wolves by compromising her security through withdrawals to undefendable borders based on agreements that are not worth the paper they are written on. I smell Munich in the air and see Neville Chamberlain in top hat every time Jimmy Carter or Mr Obama espouse their plans for peace in our time.
