A Response to F. Godunov's hatred againts the muslimsReader comment on item: [Hesham Hedayet and] Border Agencies in Denial Submitted by Emrah SAHIN (Turkey), Jan 12, 2004 at 13:46 Dear Godunov,I share your feelings up to some point. I think immigration is not a right or a privilege but the last resort for those who venture leaving their homeland so as to reset their lives and forget all the bad old days back (as the case in Muslim immigrations). As a scholar who studies the major trends and themes of immigration overseas, I do not foresee ant threat or danger posed on the US in the near future as far as the muslim immigration is concerned. Center for Immigration Studies, and US Department of State's Bureau of Investigation reveal some facts about the Muslim immigrants in America: although some Muslim immigrants tend to promote Islam in extreme ways, some, and perhaps a great majority, migrate to U.S. for education, and economic and political opportunities. The Muslims, overall, compose the most educated immigrant group and do not seem to lose later their such qualification. America is a land of opportunities and freedom. US does, and always should, welcome newcomers so long as they are eligible to come. As for your comparison between Christian and Muslim immigrants, I do not know the criteria for the immigration process. However, I know that, your attitude toward the Muslims is somehow aggressive and destructive in its essence. I recommend, to think why Christians are excluded from coming to US through the consulates in the concerned centers, instead of accusing the Muslim immigrants who get the acceptance to enter US borders. your Regards,
