Straight-shooting timeReader comment on item: The Coming Crises Show the Direction of Europe Submitted by Rebecca Moulds (United States), Jul 9, 2008 at 09:49 This interview has been a major breakthrough in understanding where we stand with Europe on many important issues, the main one being the influx of Muslims into Europe, which many Europeans are quite worried about. Most Scandinavians are self-absorbed, especially during the high summer months where concentration is on having fun rather than the political state of their countries. When in Europe recently, I did not hear much about the relationship there to Israel; mainly the talk was of the problems of Muslim integration into the various European societies. My Finnish friends tell me that they are worried about the wave of Somalis that have been pouring into Finland, using the social services, having large families, being given subsidized housing, and filling up their shopping carts to the hilt with luxury items, while the indigenous Finns and Finnish old-age pensioners can barely make ends meet. It seems that Muslims are being given precedence over others. Given the high volume of Muslims now living in Europe, many of them in the Scandinavian countries, the general fear is that of Islam becoming an even greater influence on the area, of people losing their identity, of Shari'a law taking over. This idea is abhorrent to any European, and yet they seem to be powerless to stop it. The Muslims are not assimilating, but living in their own communities, often hostile to their host country. We in the United States must start to understand the threat of radical Islam, its stealthy approach, its aim to conquer the Western world, and we need to use Europe as an example of what not to do.
