"Hezbollah's victory, Israel's Decline"Reader comment on item: Hezbollah's Victory, Israel's Decline Submitted by Lisette Murad (United States), Feb 4, 2004 at 22:45 February 4th'04Dear Sir: The title of your article, "Hezbollah's victory, Israel's Decline", is accurate, powerful, and sums up very effectively, the catastrophic consequences of Israeli policies, in legitimizing terror groups since the signing of Oslo. The aftermath of the prisoner swap with a terror organization such as Hezbollah, can only be negative. Understandably, in view of Israel's latest capitulation, Hezbollah, has vowed, to continue the kidnappings and slaying of Israeli soldiers and civilians in return. I wondered, is this the way to fight terror? By negotiating with and releasing terrorists? And how is it, that justice was done, for the three dead soldiers, when the country that they were killed defending, met the demands of those responsible for their kidnapping and murder? Moreover, how many more innocent Israelis will be killed as a consequence of the Israeli government's concessions to this terror group? It is deeply troubling and tragic, that Israel, once a leader in combatting terrorism, should now be the country to appease and negotiate with terror groups. What is more pitiable, is it does so, while its people are being murdered. As the U.S. takes the forefront in the battle against terror, Israel has lost the moral vision to do the same. This is a course of total surrender. As for when will the "descent stop"? Perhaps I am pessimistic, but I see it, as a spiralling fall, in a bottomless pit.
