Syria - Terrorist occupation of former friendly nation

Why has the United States taken a "hands off" policy on Syria when Syria is illegally (according to International Law) occupying Lebanon? Syria is a terrorist friendly State and most likely is harboring Iraq's WMDs from Saddam Hussein. Lebanon was once the jewel of the Middle East but now is nothing more than a puppet state of radical Arabic nations to foster and train terrorists against Israel.
