it's a trickle-down phenomenonReader comment on item: [The University of] California [Press] vs. Academic Freedom Submitted by William Meyer (United States), Apr 6, 2004 at 01:36 With Angela Davis a member of the Board of Regents of the UC system, how might we expect anything other than the leftist spew on which you've reported? But it's not all that recent, of course. My step-daughter is in th grade at a school not far from UCSC, where her "geography" class uses a book about "world cultures", and the teacher (secure after 27 years in that school) has so far taken them through less than 50 pages of the book, preferring to assign exercises based on finding news articles that support the teacher's own anti-American notions. This is a scandalous situation, and with the schools so thoroughly in the grip of the teachers' unions, and as we live far too close to thr People's Republic of Santa Cruz, the only cure for my own family appears to be departure from California.
