Sometimes it is about movement, and sometimes it's just about game.Reader comment on item: Computer Gamers Join the Jihad Submitted by Reginald (Indonesia), Dec 26, 2008 at 10:52 Seeing the other article here: I thought... why generalize this matter? I mean, gamers playing that horrible game is not always a supporter of the Islamic fundamentalism. Sometimes it is about movement, and sometimes it's just about game. A play for fun. Ever heard Call of Duty series? Or any other World War-themed series? In the game, only USA and Soviet Russia are playable side to play. And there are much destruction exist within those. But, did the games teach us to kill the Germans? Did the games teach us to hate the Italians? No, I would say. It is just about gaming. To take matter more simple... you should know Grand Theft Auto. Destructions everywhere, killing innocents, and whatnot. But it does not teach us to terrorism. Unless some stupid kids do not read the ESRB rating. The same goes for Tom Clancy's game series, where Russia always be the bad guy. These have no relation with specific country-hating And I think the same goes with the gamer you are talking about. They are not joining the radical movements -- well, some of them might be, but not all. I mean... it is just a dang GAME! --- But, please remember, we all have this kind of religion fundamentalism. At least the three Abrahamic religions -- Islam, Christian, Judaism. Don't swing the hasty generalization there. ;) Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
