Australian Cultural Conservative Relies on MuslimsReader comment on item: Australian Cultural Conservative Relies on Muslims Submitted by Puzzled person (United Kingdom), Jan 4, 2009 at 06:56 Mr Pipes. Thanks for highlighting this news. I've some concerns of that the NSW MP has to think 1. Mixing religion with politics is very dangerous. 2. I'm a migrant from asia into a western country. I do not, I repeat not, want to impose my religious sensitivities on my new country. I came to west for various reasons, most important of that is freedom in a rightful way. 3. I totally disagree and condemn the views of Mr Nile. I wonder where is the limit to this nonsense. Tomorrow we all should stop eating pork so not to offend muslims. We should only eat halal food. All the women should cover their face, you cannot pee or ... in direction of Saudi arabia, no statues (it amounts to idolatory), no music, no movies, ...the list is endless. When we go to muslim countries, we too may find somethings offending. But we do not ask them to accomodate non-muslim senstiveness. Our women cannot wear skirts. you cannot hold the hand of your wife in public as it amounts to public sex. you cannot display the symbol of your non-muslim religion in public. so no crosses, etc. there is difference between being morally right and being politically right. sometimes they do not go hand in hand. so politicians choose something which is politically 'right' rather than being right Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
