AKP, so-called democraticReader comment on item: Bibliography – Writings on Turkey as Rival Submitted by d. ata (Turkey), Jan 4, 2009 at 14:03 I am an ordinary turk (man in the street). Here are my humble opinions regarding the subject: - AKP is a pure islamist party. - Tayyip Erdogan and his friends have a secret agenda (which is to destroy "weak" democracy and secularism in the country and to create an islamic country like Iran). - AKP has strong relations with HAMAS. Why? Because HAMAS is islamic extremist and antisemitic. AKP does not like the secular wing of Palestinians and is very reluctant to contact this wing. - AKP's islamic effect can be seen in every part of the society and the state. - Ironically, the US and the EU supported (or pretend) AKP since 2002. - AKP and its (local and foreign) proponents are doing everything to weaken Turkish Army. - People are very confused. But It can easily be said that people strongly hate the US since they believe it is the number one threat to the unity of the country. - Israel's actions strengthen the islamic extremists, weaken secularists. - Many foreigners never and never understand or listen the turkish public opinion. they underestimate the prudency of this people. - Foreign journalists only listen the stupid so-called intellectuals who do not know their own country and people. I just tried to reflect the opinions of the man in the street in Turkey. Best Regards D.
