Bowing Down To The Demands of Oil-Rich Saudi ArabiaReader comment on item: Russian Orthodox Churches in Saudi Arabia? Submitted by Renee Bouvier (United States), Jan 6, 2009 at 15:39 Three cheers to the Russians. Obviously, the Christians in Russia are not forced to sell out themselves or their ideals for oil. The Russians are swimming, literally swimming, in oil, and therefore, can maintain a degree of integrity. As for the Russian economy, though, the people and their government must diversify to survive the present economic global crisis. As the price and demand for oil decreases, the Russian people, their government, and economy must diversify. The Russian people and their country have so much to offer. Better relations and cooperation with North America should be an imperative. There was talk of Russia purchasing drones (reconnaissance planes) from the Israeli government. Russia needs to get much closer to those of the West, their friends, and allies, especially in combating the threat now emanating from political Islamic fanatics like the Salafists of the Middle Eastern region and from those in Iran.
