The last point should be emphasized

Reader comment on item: Israeli Disengagement Plan

Submitted by Yuval Brandstetter MD (Israel), Apr 20, 2004 at 05:31

I fear the last point you made does not get its due attention. Every civilized nation in the world is expected to tolerate a different minority. That is the litmus test for democracy and progress. Israel is expected to tolerate a vociferously antisemitic Arab minority, and treat them with respect, and concede some autonomy -- which it does. The only ones in the world who demand a complete expulsion of a minority as a prerequisite for negotiations are the Arabs. The Arabs consistently fail the litmus test of democracy and tolerance by having exiled all their Jews, refusing to absorb their own refugees, and demanding a Juden Rein middle east as the price of peace.

With such partners for peace, who needs adversaries?
