Palestinian ArabsReader comment on item: The Gaza War's Boost to Avigdor Lieberman Submitted by Thiagan (India), Feb 4, 2009 at 06:04 "If we will be more strong, more tough, they will be more loyal," he said. "They are really afraid about their future." This assessment may be true. In the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, the elections were held recently. The state consists of two parts: Kashmir Valley with muslim majority and the Jammy area which Hindu majority. Six months back there was a backlash from the Hindu majority in Jammu for the cancellation of of a land allotment for a Hindu temple. The Hindus revolted and made it clear that muslim majority Valley be delinked from India and be left to the mercy of Allah. The muslims got scared because they knew the Valley will be taken by Taliban, the huge Indian market for their orchards will be denied and the huge subsidies enjoyed by the Valley will come to an end. The electorate gave a major victory for the mainstream political parties, who want to remain with India. Separatists were clearly defeated. The polling percentage was unusually high at 65%. A mere threat from US and Israel to the Palestinian Arabs that they will be left to the chaos of the Taliban may bring them to senses.
