The elimination of IsraelReader comment on item: That Surreal Gaza Reconstruction Conference Submitted by Ken Besig (Israel), Mar 3, 2009 at 08:26 Only a few international leaders have the courage to say so, but it is becoming more and more apparent that even to the United States government, Israel has become more of a burden than an asset. This development parallels the growth in the West of once though dead but apparently alive and well, eliminationist anti Semitism. Eliminationist anti Semitism was refined and carried out by the Nazis and proposes that the Jews are so evil, so insidious, so pernicious that the only answer is their destruction. Nowadays one need only watch the various demonstrations against Israel held at American universities and colleges, institutions of higher learning so to speak, to see banners calling for rebuilding gas chambers to kill the Jews, speakers, professors and students, and demonstrators screaming death to the Jews and demanding the destruction of Israel, clearly, publicly, and out loud with no shame. Jewish students live in fear on many campuses in Europe and America, and yet these are precisely the place where one should be fearless, where the exchange of ideas should be paramount, not the exchange of blows or cries for the murder of the Jewish People. I was born after the Holocaust of the Jews of Europe and thus I cannot speak with any authority as to the atmosphere there which led to the slaughter of six million innocent Jews at the hands of the most educated, scientifically advanced, and culturally progressive state in Europe at that time, Germany. But the attitude I am finding more and more prevalent in Europe and America, especially among the intellectuals and the chattering classes, is that Israel is a nuisance and a bother to the international community and if the State of the Jews can't be reined in, then steps must be taken to reduce her damage. Already disinvstment campaigns and university boycotts against Israel are succeeding, with various human rights NGO's demanding a weapons boycott against Israel presumably to protect Palestinians, but in reality to render Israel defenceless against her enemies. The Germans really put it most effectively when the Nazis festooned their rallies with the slogan, which is becoming more and more typical of Western elite's feelings towards Israel, that is, "Die Juden sin unser Ungluck!" That is "The Jews are our misfortune" May God help us and the world if this feeling becomes any more widespread Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
