ataturk the evil dictator who was a tyrant and full of lies.Reader comment on item: Dr. Pipes' views on Islamic Terrorism and Turkey Submitted by Salih (Australia), May 21, 2009 at 15:41 I am a Turk' Whereas secularism in our concept was that our constitutional laws have had to be approaching the pious and the opposite in equal distances. They wasted the chance by denying the rights of one side and cheering the other. We don't have any faith left in us for confiscating our rights in the past almost for a century. We have been built up with great anger after they have hung our 3 politcians, namely, Adnan Menderes' Fatih Rustu Zorlu, Hasan Polatkan for moderating the strict dictatorial laws in the favor of pious citizens. One of the moderation they done was retranslation of azan(call to prayer) from the minarets into Arabic which couldn't be recited otherwise if there wasn't a suppressive strict kemalist laws ruling and crushing people's faith in the worst sense. You will not know the extent of suppression that were applied in the past. especially before 1950 by just reading from the kemalist history making which is full of lies and twisted evidences to further reinstate the kemalist ideology and for serving their lusts. We are pretty sur we are so much nicer prople if we are assisted in following the rules of Islam. The right thing to do today is not looking for a way to engage ataturk-ism or kemalism or discriminative laws of kemalism mixing up with Islam or sitting in the same table with Muslims. The right thing to do is to get rid of that suppressive, discriminate ideology which only is an obstacle before Turkey and the people of Turkey in its advancements and peace between people in Turkey. The pious Muslims know one thing for very sure that they can't make peace with the entity called ataturk.
