political islam is a failure, nothing but human misery.Reader comment on item: The Failure of Political Islam Submitted by Phil Greend (Canada), Jun 2, 2009 at 21:06 True political islam is in trouble, but islam is not just about politics. It is far more diverse and wide spread. A cult, a military unit, various forms of government are just some of the shapes that islam takes. The fact that islam is not a winner in politics is not all that important. islam was never spread by voting it was spread and continues to be spread by the sword. Violence is the only thing keeping islam going. Various political parties will come and go. Even some countries will disappear, or join with other countries. However islam will last as long as it lasts. Just like communism, it lasted for only as long as it could. Communism was predestined to die, it could not continue for forever. The same is true of islam. It will either die on its own or be killed. Perhaps not all at once, just like communism continues in some form in some countries. However each time a more extremist type party or govenment takes power, that is the new fundamentalist power that will stay for a long time. The shear ruthlessness of the extremists in the past has made this true. If we add in the politicians in the West who decline to see the clear threat of the islamist, then rest asured islam will continue for a long time, no matter the politics.
