Offshoot of the idea of Bloods and Crips and IslamReader comment on item: Uprising: Crips and Bloods tell the Story of America's Youth in the Crossfire Submitted by Drew (United States), Jul 6, 2009 at 02:24 When I did the search to find these terms together, I wasnt thinking about the amount of gang members or ex gang members who are part of the 'Nation of Islam'. I was thinking that, if you really think about it and take a moment, Islam itself, and the street gang phenomenon of gangs like the Bloods and Crips, Gangsta Desciples and Vicelords etc. have a LOT in common! In both, there is a policy death for 'apostacy', or leaving the gang. Both have lots of sectarian violence. Also, both are pretty much extremely violent, irrational, and intolerant groups of society, only difference I think is that the Bloods and Crips dont think that they need to force the entire world to be part of their gang, the initiation is quite different indeed. Both hold down ghettos now in places, like in the west for Islam over in Europe there are places where if you go down the wrong street and you are obviously an 'unbeliever', you could very likely wind up dead, same for being out of place in a neighborhood with heavy gang activity, although nowadays I think it is a lot less likely with gangs than with Islam. Both preach brotherhood yet enforce impossible rules on their members that are excuses to punish excessively. But either way, a LOT in common. Submitting....
