corelation of popularityReader comment on item: Obama Makes Little Headway among Arabic-speaking Muslims Submitted by Omer (United States), Jun 1, 2010 at 20:10 a simple study will show a direct corellation in between the 'popularity' of the US President in the Islamic world and what Israel is doing in the region. if Israel bombs/invades someone and the White House takes the supporting actor role in Israeli PR spin then the Presidents popularity, credibility and what it represents as a life style goes down the drain. Any time it looks like its taking a more balanced approach on Israel, even if its just a press release his popularity goes up, the moderates who are more peace-oriented get strengthened. the logic is simple. there is no relationship with how Obama talks about 'respect' for Islam or how many moslem leaders he entertains in the White House. people in the world dont want respect, they want justice. People are just too fed up with the US inability to act in a fair manner wrto Israel and everybody else. in today's environment the US as the single able super power it is looked upon to be the peace keeper, the normalizer, the entity that is supposed to stand up for what is good and right. even the latest event with the Free Gaza flotila Israel has completely messed up and the US is not taking the just side. if Israel really wanted to stop the flotila it could have simply sent Navy divers to disable the vehicles and then tow to what ever destination it wanted. zero loss of life. instead it employs and iddiotic strategy executed in the worse possible way killing 10 injuring dozens more. when the US president does not come around to talk about, even if in gentle diplomatic words, how unnecessary Israels actions were, then the world simply looks at the US President as a puppet of the Jewish lobby (at best) or considers it to be in agreement with Israels moves (the worst). Israel is increasingly weighing down the US, the US's blank check support of Israel's actions are the single biggest reason that Israelis do not feel a need to find common ground.
