I am not sure of Mahmoud Abbas's motive, is it for peace or for personal politics ?Reader comment on item: The Middle Eastern Cold War: Updates Submitted by Phil Greend (Canada), Jun 15, 2010 at 19:20 I hope that Mr Mahmoud Abbas wants peace and he understands that the Israel action of stopping boats and searching for rockets is good. The last time the muslims of gaza had rockets they fired them into Israel as part of the koran's dream of genocide of the Jews, . . . and the muslims of gaza paid a heavy price for this when Israel finally defended its self. Scores of muslims good and bad were killed in Israel protecting her self. Sadly I can also see a politician thinking, and a terrorist thinking. Is Mr. Mahmoud Abbas just playing politics so he can win the next election ? Or is this more sinister, I say this only because Mr Abbas has never come out and said "Hey, you know the part of the koran where the Prophet Mohammed P.B.U.H. says to' kill the Jews,' well . . . the prophet was wrong, we should live in peace with the Jews " ...until he says this, I feel he is just as terror prone as the President of Iran, or the leader of Hamas or any other islamist terror gang. As for the Israelis they must stop the boats to check for rockets or there will be dead Jews in Israel !
