I was troubled by your statement that "Islam could become part of the American religious scene and not try to dominate". According to the Quran and those who have been Islamic terrorist and have now become christians such as Waliid shoebat, Islam"s goal is to take over the world. Another good source is Kamal Saleen at Koone Ministries. com, also Usama Dakdok at The Straight Way.org. You are no doubt familiar with these ministries. We know they will, or plan to do it peacefilly as in Europe, but have no problem with resorting to the sword.
