FrighteningReader comment on item: Coddling a Terrorist [Sami Al-Arian] Costs Votes Submitted by Anna S. (United States), Oct 20, 2004 at 18:44 The distortion in this campaign is frightening. I am not yet old enough to vote, however, I worry what shape this country will be in. Ms. Castro argues that she is tough on terrorism, and yet, her actions when she was in charge at the university amount to "going with the flow" and "not ruffling any feathers." The groups that speak out loudly in Florida claiming that they speak for American Muslims have always defended Dr. Al-Arian and probably would have made Ms. Castro's life miserable had she tried to do anything stronger. And I don't think that she will change even if she becomes Senator. And the newspapers are tired of the issue -- I wonder why. They accept everything that these groups claim and never ask any tough questions. In contrast, those who try to speak out against Al-Arian, his supporters, and the situation at USF are viewed and described negatively in the press. It's amazing. I am 15 and I am disillusioned with the process already. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
