To Mr. BanerjeeReader comment on item: Valentine's Day in the Muslim World Submitted by Jeff (United States), Feb 7, 2011 at 13:39 Hello Mr. Banerjee, I'm not sure what any of what you say has to do with the words of the mass murderer Ayatollah Khomeini, but I suppose, I might be inclined to question why, if anything you said were actually true. While you comfort yourself with thoughts of infidel crime rates, consider: The reported number of rapes in the USA is higher than some other countries. But this is related to the simple fact that, unlike in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, or in the Islamic Republic of Iran, for example, we choose to punish the rapist, not the victim. So victims are inclined to report such crimes to the police. Unlike Pakistan and Iran, where thousands of rape victims are imprisoned (or hanged, or stoned, or shot) for the crime of being raped, in the USA, rapists, not victims, are sent to prison. Also, in the USA, we publish accurate statistics on such matters for the world to see. Egypt, for example, would never do such a thing, as the truth would be a huge embarrassment. Statistics on the number of rape victims subsequently murdered by their own family members would only be a further embarrassment. We don't require 4 male witnesses to convict someone of rape. The highest murder rate in the world is in Columbia, followed by South Africa. The USA comes in 24th, after Bulgaria. So you're saying that humor, fun and joy are bad things? It's important to live your life without any of those things? Really? Lots of people die every month, just in the city of Mumai alone, by hanging onto the sides of moving trains and hitting poles placed too close to the tracks. Have you ever tried to question why? I'm surprised that you choose to live in a democracy, Mr. Banerjee, as the Islamic world appears to have so many advantages over the way of governance that you and I share. The Islamic Republic of Pakistan isn't far away; what's stopping you?
