Fin de Régime in SyriaReader comment on item: Fin de Régime in Syria? Submitted by Salm Bitar (United States), May 24, 2011 at 05:25 Dear Mr. Pipes I've been receiving your comments since a couple of years and have been keen to read each, but this time I feel my self unable to accept to keep silent after reading a biased article. Sir, the US and Eu are following their interests anywhere in the world regardless of the interests of local people. Regarding Syria and the Middle East in general, I can say that both the US and EU have committed many massacres so far that strongly affected the people here and pushed up with a terrible, fanatic beliefs who refuse all the west and even all the beliefs of cohabitation, calling for living in a mono-society where everyone has to accept what is obligated by depressed fanatic minds or to be prepared for killing or to accept emigration and deporting in best conditions. And no doubt this is not of the principles of civilization. What can be identified in Iraq is that doors have been opened for killing and deportation, for fanaticism and depression. The same can be refered to if we go back to the Lebanese war when the US agreed on all what was going on that time. The US accepted without hesitation the deportation of the Christians of Lebanon those days to any place they left to!! Churches were closed, houses were taken over, and the US kept silent! And everyone now knows well the points behind all that!! The same happened in Iraq, and the US did the same again without sorrow. Today in your article I have the feeling that you are talking with the same absence of feeling, and sorry for the say, not taking in acceptance what is going on land. You are talking and writing from afar probably depending on people who want the matters to go in a certain way to achieve certain aims they want, but have you ever asked anyone about the fears they have in acceptance if troubles went in those directions? Probably you are a Jew who don't care about Christianity anywhere, but when you pretend to speak as a scholar introducing yourself through a site on the Internet, in that case you have to take in acceptance the others' opinions and fears. Sir, please believe that I am writing independently, and because I've always respected your writing ... Please be sure that keeping on your efforts in putting down the regime in Syria you will be putting the future of the US and Europe in all. I can't believe that you are not aware of the mentality that Moslem fanatics carry against anyone who is not on their side. The moment they get the authority they will fire out and slaughter the Christians, creating new Afghanistan. You are talking about what the regime has done in some place of Syria, but why don't you talk about what have the Moslem Brotherhood done in announcing Islamic emaras here and there in Syria?? How can I accept that YOU are not aware of all that. Otherwise you should be in favor of all what is prepared for this area. But you have to inform the people in Israel that their future is going to be beside, fanatic, Afghani Islamic regime. Then you can imagine what a future will be to have Jewish and Moslem fanatics living each beside the other on the Shoulder of Europe. Only then you can agree with me that I haven't been mistaken Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
