Republican hypocrisy overstatedReader comment on item: Republicans Are Inconsistent with Obama, But Democrats Are Hypocritical Submitted by Steve (Canada), Jul 11, 2011 at 00:06 Dr Pipes says, "Republicans excoriate Obama for setting a deadline for the withdrawal of U.S. troops in Afghanistan but said not a peep when Bush did the same for the much larger undertaking in Iraq in the status of forces agreement to withdraw all U.S. troops by the last day of 2011. Conversely, Republicans give Obama little credit for keeping the Iraqi mission basically in place, only speeding up the timetable." However, were it not for Democrats and their media so successfully making poltical hay out of the war in Iraq, Bush would not have committed to a troop withdrawal by the end of 2011. In effect, that was a Democrat policy forced on a Republican president. One which, when they assumed power, the Democrats reneged upon, thereby indicating both disingenuousness and hypocrisy. Naturally, then, the Republicans had no reason to "give Obama...credit for keeping the Iraqi mission basically in place."
