Re-establishing the CaliphateReader comment on item: Radical Islam Update Submitted by Alan Meyer (Australia), Aug 30, 2011 at 21:20 Dr Pipes' position that we are witnessing a third great totalitarianism (radical Islam) should concern people living in the West. Calls for sharia law in European countries (for example) only serve to strengthen the belief of large Muslim 'minorities' in European cities that they are living in enclaves of 'the one true religion' amidst a dhimmi or inferior peoples with inferior world views. If Arab nationalism is finally buried by the rise of Islamist regimes in Syria, Libya, Tunisia, and Egypt supported by an increasingly influential Shia Iran as a result of the 'Arab Spring', then those European countries with significant Muslim minorities in the cities will have to contend with a cultural Islamic revolution not seen for five generations, and which could be the nucleus of a new Caliphate across the Middle East and Europe in the next three decades or so.
