September 11th, 2001 Began My Education About IslamReader comment on item: What I Remember: That Unforgettable Morning Submitted by AnneM (United States), Sep 12, 2011 at 08:26 I remember that fateful Tuesday morning called September 11th, 2001. I had just gotten into work at a local community college a bit eariler after having mail a couple of letters that I mailed from both I and my mother and being on the phone with her to let her know, she told me that the WTC Tower #1 was hit by a jet air plane. I thought that it was a tragic accident at the time. She thought it was a movie on tv. When WTC Tower #2 was hit, I KNEW then that this was an ATTACK on the USA. As for being much more safer, for me on a personal level yes, on a national level, yes to an extent, but more could be done to make the USA much more safe, such as do what Israel at its airport does, do profiling. Also on September 11th, 2001, was also my first day in learning what Islam is all about as well as on jihad and terrorism.
