beyond the canonReader comment on item: Upheavals in the Middle East Submitted by donvan (United States), Oct 14, 2011 at 10:44 Truth, as so often happens, is made opaque by the details. The truth is that I'slam is beyond and outside the 'canon' of Western thought and political philosophy. No amount of "Understanding", "Acceptance", incorporation of I'slam, in whole or in part is a threat to Western Civilzation. Dr. Pipes is correct that the huge amounts of treasure and lives will amount to little effect. The confusion and discord evident in the Muhammedian I'slamic culture is organic to the canon of I'lamic thought and literature. Rejection of Muhammedism and its reduction and dimmishment must, eventually, come to pass if Western civilization is to survive.
