I was thereReader comment on item: Jamil Al-Amin Goes to Jail Submitted by Alternate (United States), Jan 22, 2012 at 07:41 I was an alternate on that jury. We were sequestered for just under a month. I was there and I saw what evidence was presented by the prosecution and the defense. The strategy of the defense was a joke. It was as if they figured he would never be convicted, that no jury in their right mind would have found him guilty, that they wouldn't need to put any work into it so they didn't bother raising a defense. The prosecution had overwhelming evidence. So much so that had I been given a chance to deliberate I would have come to the same conclusion as the rest of them. Guilty. He received 'Life without Parole' which is exactly what the murder victim's wife wanted. This was not a case of "a black man and muslim who was found guilty because America consists of bigots and racists".
