Speaking as a Christian "fundamentalist" (a Protestant who takes his faith seriously), I'm not so sure I want to be seen merely as a foot soldier in violent confrontations with the Islamic world--a problem to which secular liberals have made their own contributions since 1979, thank you.

Among other things, missions organizations (mostly "fundamentalist") have been caught flat-footed and pleased that there is a greater openness to the Gospel among Muslims than has ever been seen before in 1400 years. Hence, I believe it is important that Muslims understand that the Gospel is the door to God's truth through which they are invited to pass, not a club held over their heads.
