Noor Issa needs a lesson.Reader comment on item: Why mocking Muhammad is not hate speech Submitted by Prashant (United States), Oct 4, 2012 at 00:41 Dear Dr Pipes: Reader Noor Issa says that Islam teaches Muslims to respect other religions. I will not challenge her/him on that issue even though I know for a fact that Islam only gives lip service, if at all, to other faiths. But I will challenge this reader of yours on a different issue: even if Islam tells Muslims to respect other religions, followers of other religions have every right to critically evaluate the actions and practices prescribed by Islam and its prophet. Further, because no one can draw the precise line where criticism becomes insult, we, the people of free societies, permit almost all spoken words as harmless. We believe that the total cost of a spoken insult is less than the total cost of preventing it from being spoken. No one is saying that the Muhammad movie was worthy of praise but all freedom loving people believe that preventing that movie from being made will do more harm than good. Happy thinking to Noor Issa. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
