just a wrong referenceReader comment on item: Fabricating Israeli History: The "New Historians." Submitted by akinoame (Iceland), Nov 19, 2012 at 19:13 Andy Dyer, you are too fast condemning Karsh in dishonesty. Here I found the quote he attributes to Morris, although not in the issue Karsh referred to. Here is the expanded quote and reference. Karsh did not lie, he probably misrefernced the quotation. Journal of Palestine Studies, Wntr 1998 v27 n2 p81(15). Refabricating 1948. (review essay on Israeli history) Benny Morris. "Karsh has a point - but it is not the one he makes. It is true that my treatment in Birth of pre-1948 "transfer thinking" among the Zionist leaders was superficial and restrictive. The subject requires a full-scale inquiry, covering the period from the 1880s until 1947, to determine the importance of the transfer idea in evolving Zionist thought at different points in time. Birth does not undertake such an inquiry, mainly because that was not the book's subject. Perhaps I erred in not attributing enough weight to the Zionists' "transfer" predisposition in explaining what actually happened in Palestine in 1948."
