Motzi Shem RaReader comment on item: Islamists Respond to Michael Jackson's Death Submitted by Rich (United States), Jan 7, 2013 at 12:33 Lashon Hara focuses on true speech in order to put someone in a bad light. If the information is part true and part false, the false portion is called Mozi Shem Ra. Hotzaat shem ra focuses on lies to slander someone. The author of this article made a mistake. Lashon Hara is ALWAYS about true speech, just used to harm someone's reputation. Ex. Cindy ate 10 hotdogs at lunch today. She must love hotdogs. Even though it is true that Cindy at 10 hotdogs at lunch, it doesn't put her in a good light. It makes her sound like a pig. This is Lashon Hara.
