The " Intifada" Of Independence...

Reader comment on item: Lebanon's Liberation Approaches

Submitted by Zahi (Lebanon), Feb 24, 2005 at 03:24

Dear Comrades,

I am a Lebanese living in Lebanon under the cruel Syrian totalitatrian occuaption.

I am 20 years old and my only glimpse of independence, freedom and sovereignty is the period of 1988 to 1990 when Gen. Michel Aoun was head of the country leading the " War of Liberation " against the Syrian occupation. Unfortunately back then the world community and especially the U.S regime sold Lebanon to Syria with the approval of Israel as package deal concerning the first " Desert Storm".

15 years has passed since then and we as Lebanese never stopped resisting the occupation despite all the killings, kidnappings, arrestments, tortures that the Lebanese people suffered.

Finally the World Community woke up and decided to help us regain our independence, freedom and sovereignty.

I guess that the U.S realised that Lebanon can be an excellent example of a democracy in the region like it always has been in the past and that the Syrian regime that has been training and protecting terrorists should changed in order to have peace in the region.
Moreover, Syria has been creating sectarian conflicts in Lebanon in order to keep its presence legal as a peacekeeper force. The majority of the political assasination in Lebanon were planned by the syrians and executed by their lebanese agents. Whenever Lebanon had any hope of union between all its sects they interfered in order to stop it.

Finally, I would like to say that we have been fighting for 15 years for independence, freedom and sovereignty and we will never stop till we achieve what we want.

We will continue our peaceful " Intifada " of Independence despite all the Syrian terrorist acts against us. Christians and Muslims, We stand united against the occupation.

I also urge everyone of you comrades around the world to help Lebanon in any way possible, maybe a small protest or any other thing because we need your support.

Thank you.

Regards,

Zahi.
