Reader comment on item: A Neo-Conservative's Caution

Submitted by Darwin Barrett (United States), Mar 8, 2005 at 20:13

The media is famous for making bad sound good and good sound bad, the goal being to attract and hold viewers. The intellectual community is famous for obfuscation, "Proving" they are smarter than anyone else. The Educational community is famous for making you think just like them or fail the class. Politicians are famous for compromise at any cost, as long it gets them elected. Civil servents are famous for finding things that need controlling, watching, policing, inspecting, maintaining and taxing, so they can increase staff and qualify for a higher pay grade. Atheists want you to be secular, Christians want you to become Christian, Jews want you to be Jewish, and Islamists want a world dominated by Islam. Humans of all types are self centered and Ego driven. They will all try to operate in their own self interests, and the ones who are most willing to kill and die for their cause, the ones with the most money and weapons, the ones with the best organization will most likely prevail, providing they are willing to use their money, weapons, and organization. So far, The Islamists appear to be the most dedicated to their goal. They have gained the support of first three groups above, and are pulling the wool over the eyes of the fourth group. They have infiltrated the fifth group, and are trying to convince us that they are trying to be like the sixth group. Islamists will continue to do what they have been doing for 1400 years, and Arabs will continue to do what they have been doing for centuries longer. The world will continue to change, but people remain the same.

So, Yes, Mr. Pipes -- wary is a good thing to be.
