Religious cleansing in MEReader comment on item: Islam and Middle East Submitted by Vijay (Sweden), Sep 14, 2013 at 16:41 Even the liberal Foreign Affairs has been forced to take note of the precipitious fall of the Christians from their historic homeland in ME. The Christain population has come donw from 20% to about 5% within a hundred years . This is not due to large scale conversion, but due to targeting of Christians by Islamists as well as "secular" Muslim rulers, who have emigrated enmasse to more tolerant societies. http://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/139917/reza-aslan/the-christian-exodus But ME is not the only place where the Ilsamic screw has tightened against non-Milsims. In the present day area of Pakistan , the percentage of Hindus was perhaps 40% . At the time of independence in 1947, it was something like 30% . Nowadays, it is more like 2 %. In the area of Bangladesh, the population of Hindus was about 33% in 1947. Today, it is under 10%. These stark statistics speak more about the "tolerance" than all the apologists of Islam put together
