Your analysis is 100% correctReader comment on item: Let Refugees Remain in Their Own Culture Zones Submitted by Prashant (United States), Sep 24, 2013 at 18:02 Dear Dr Pipes, I am in absolute agreement with you regarding Syrian refugees in western and other liberal countries. Islamic countries are extremely unkind toward their friends and brothers in other Islamic countries. The entire Islamic world will be ready to stand up for every Palestinian in every corner of the world but they are not willing to accept them as refugees. Saudi Arabia has more land to construct 100 Israels (readers, pl. do your research and math) but they are not willing to accept even 1% of the inconvenienced Palestinians. Why? Every thing quoted from quran will tell you that Saudi Arabia must be extremely generous to the allegedly displaced Palestinians (saving the life of one human is like saving the entire humanity, isn't it?). The same applies to the refugess of fratricidal wars from Syria and other countries. It is still unconfirmed but I have seen news stories indicating that the a few of the recent killers in Kenya (I know that they are not true muslims) were our own home grown kids from midwest. My other country (India) is perpetually dealing with hundreds of home grown locally born and brought up Jihadis willing to die and kill their own neighbors for I do not know why. Under such circumstances, inviting new refugees into western states will naturally be difficult for both the parties. As you said, there is no plans in America to force women to dress modestly, live with alcohol, stop eating pork, stop government lotteries or gambling, and --one thing that you forgot to mention-- switching to sinless interest free financing (that seems to imply that money should be free). So why trouble everyone? On the other hand, minorities cultures and populations are more under the threat of extinction in Islamic countries than dolphins and sharks are under the threat of extinction in the western oceans. We protect our sharks better than they protect their people. In the aftermath of recent killing of Christians in Pakistan, in some corners of India there is a suggestion that India should grant refugee status to every minority person in Pakistan. The same should hold for all western nations. If you are a minority in any Islamic nation, western nations and other liberal democracies should offer you asylum if you choose to seek an asylum. That is a human thing to do. Let me just add one more thing. We should always wish for peace, progress, education, and prosperity in the Islamic nations including Syria. I do.
