AlternativesReader comment on item: Believe Khamene'i and Assad? Not Me Submitted by David W. Lincoln (Canada), Sep 30, 2013 at 11:30 Professor, I can't help but think that Lebanon has a constructive role to play when it comes to what you cite. Given the map that showed up in the NY Times about 5 countries devolving into 14 (plus this would extend to Turkey & Iran), the West can back an honest king (and frankly I have more trust in Abdullah, than the current King of KSA), the King can have a council of Kings as an inner cabinet, and frankly we won't have to play defense all the time when the Islamists (as you call them), do their worst. For, there are gaps in Islamism, and frankly those of us who are viewed with a jaundiced eye by the Islamists, we are closer than the Islamists to being in the place to put them in their place. It isn't just about weapons, rights and education, but it is also about going beyond the finiteness of life.
