What would Egypt and Jordan's interests be in the 3 state solution?Reader comment on item: A Review of the Situation Submitted by PezDispenser (Israel), Oct 23, 2013 at 07:14 Why would they want to take this Palestinian hot potato from Israel? After all, it was the Nasserist regime that helped create the PLO in the first place and King Hussein who cut off links from his former occupation in 1987. And assuming they'd be interested, how would those regimes defend themselves against Islamist cries of collaboration with Israel? As "liberators" of the 1967 lands? And last but not least, I read that the 1986 London Agreement failed because both Shamir wasn't interested, and Hussein wanted a withdrawal from East Jerusalem, which Israel wouldn't do. Why do you think the situation would be any different this time? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
