completely disagree about fighting against the Asad regimeReader comment on item: On Syria, Erdoğan Is Better than Obama Submitted by Jeffrey (United States), Mar 3, 2015 at 17:18 Whether one likes it or not, the Syrian regime - nasty as it is - is the last remaining military bulwark against a Sunni jihadist takeover of the heartland of the Middle East. Hence the US should not be trying to weaken that regime in any way, which will only create another power vacuum that the jihadists will fill (as in Libya), but rather should be collaborating with the Syrian regime (covertly or otherwise) to destroy the military capabilities of the IS and the Jabhat al-Nusra. When the Sunni jihadist threat is eliminated, then and only then should the US work to foster political reform in Syria.
