independent the better wordReader comment on item: The Real "Realism" of Daniel Pipes Submitted by myth (Germany), Mar 4, 2015 at 15:04 "Realism" is an Orwellian word used to tell the other side any opposing view will be discarded immediately. "Independent" seems the better word to me. How can one tell if someone is independent? Truly independent people would change their standpoints adapting to new facts regardless of loyalty. They will admit to mistakes. They will decorate a conclusion with an honest doubt. They will sincerely explain the various standpoints of the opposition.
