Islam has gang appealReader comment on item: What Antidote to Radical Islam? Submitted by Michael S (United States), Apr 6, 2015 at 11:03 I imagine Coke is halal. It's basically sugar and water, with little else added. No pork, no meat, no fiber, no food value other than empty calories. It could be considered a chemical weapon, considering the disability and death it causes; but it seems all sides willingly consume it. My wife just read me an article about gang recruitment in the city where I live. Recruitment starts before a child is 8 years old; and some of the gang members are as old as 40. That got me to thinking about the Islamistas in Da'esh and other gangs. They're basically young people with an identity problem, who grow up to be young adults on power trips. Becoming a suicide bomber is an extreme form of bravado, reserved for the youngest and most gullible; but it's still just bravado. The antidote for Islam, it would seem, would be to de-classify it as a "religion", and treat it as the political tool it looks like, walks like and quacks like. Because hundreds of millions seem to be sentimentally attached to it, though, I guess the best antidote would be to lte the Islamic people devour one another, as they seem intent on doing at the moment. Young ne'er-do-wells will continue to be attracted to it, though, just as they are to gangs. Egypt's Sisi is doing a pretty good job of things. If people want to be "Moslems" (what Daniel would call "moderate Muslims", fine: but membership in a gang, such as the Muslim Brotherhood, is forbidden; and the gang leaders are being tried and sentenced to death. If that sounds like something out of the Tudor or Plantagenet era, it's because that's where Egypt is, psychologically, at present.
