Perhaps the whole fundament for US-relationship to Middle East has shifted?

If it is true that Obama wants to leave the Middle East to Iran, then there is no need for the Israel-USA strategic alliance - quite the contrary. Vic Rosenthal writes that the Iran negotiations may have been guided by "the Iraq Study Commission recommendations to buy the friendship of the Arab and Iranian troublemakers in the Middle East by giving them Israel." Further, he says: "What brought Iran to the table was not economic pressure, but the opportunity presented by the Obama Administration, which was anxious to shed its obligations in the Middle East..."
