What do you mean "what was the point in writing this article"?Reader comment on item: Black Soldiers in Early Muslim Armies Submitted by Rudy M. (United States), Oct 23, 2015 at 16:25 Pipes' point in writing this article is sound enough - it is to counter the noises coming out of Muslim circles that Islam is - and always has been - entirely innocent of enslaving blacks. Christian nations freely admit thier past involvement in this sordid business, but Muslim nation frequently refuse to do the same. As long as Islam remains silent about its past involvement in black slavery - it hopes to pass itself off as the great imancipator of black Africans - contrary to historical fact. There's an old saying "The truth may hurt, but the lies will kill us." Rudy M. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
